Finally, a case for my "57er" Pour le Merite!

Okay, okay... before the "57er" Stasi steps in - I know, there is no such thing as a "57er" Pour le Merite as the award did not fall under the purview of the 1957 Ordensgesetz... and that a more appropriate term for it is a "Post WWII" Pour Le Merite by Steinhauer and Luck... I get the drift. I just call 'em a "57er PlM" as they were manufactured during the same time period as the 57er versions of the Third Reich era awards.

That being said, I just landed an Etui (box) for my Steinhauer und Luck PlM! The seller did not know what it was - just listed as an "unknown award box - perhaps for Knights Cross." Though the box is not in the best shape ever, it is more than serviceable. Obviously it was not for a knights cross. Knowing the S&L PlM, I knew exactly what it was. Luckily no one else seemed interested so I did not have to get into a bidding war. Now I have a complete PlM set. A nice match to offset my RK!

    Hi Erik!
Great case you have landed, I doubt these turn up very often, not in early postwar form like this!
You now have a super PLM set, finished off nicely with your case!
I really like the early cased medals from S&L, RK, DKiS, DKiG, PLM, etc etc
Thanks for showing it, a set to be proud of!!!!!!!

      "57er Stasi" Good one

So it was a PLM case Good to know.
Glad that you finally could complete that set.

BTW ...... the S&L PLM´s are smashing pieces and on my wishlist for long. But need to find a payable piece without dealers bonus.

Wonderful set ....... no, two wonderful sets

          Hi,

yes, i saw it listed on ebay. But didn´t know what to make of it. A PLM came never into my mind as my homework on these is still not finished.

Thanks for the link to the auction, a very nice piece. Sadly i spend way too much money the last weeks so i have to stay back
Such offers always come at the wrong time, damned

But for sure there will more pop up over the years, i learned my lesson to be patient

BTW ... a name would be great, i like it personal

With that - do you mean a named 57er PlM? As in from a vet?

If that is the case, then I would have to say that a named 57er PlM is probably more difficult to find than say a genuine pre-1918 official issue PlM... The only known named PlM's of the 57er era are in museums.

My name is Erik. That, however, wont bring any provenance to the table!

Thanks! I truly thought that I would never find one. I guess I was wrong on that one.

                    Hi Erik,

many thanks for letting us know
It´s just nicer to talk with a name and not only avatar or member name.

Now we have provenance to your member name "unfront" and your avatar
