    very early S&L EK I

    Hi friends,

ok, not a big haul or something high end but it was a missing piece that i needed for a display of EK´s and BVK´s.

After all the years of collecting finally a broad pin EK I by S&L found it´s way to me.
Not much more to add, i just let the pics speak. Core is a little bit dusty but that gives it an aged look.
Now only 3 EK´s missing to complete the display

Nice one my friend. This is a good one to keep in a collection. Which ones are you missing? I might have one of them.

      Regards,
      Rudy

        Thanks friends

        Now missing are
        - 1914 EK I ( but will get one from a friend )
        - 1939 EK II
        - 1939 EK I

Display will show EK´s from 1914 over 1939 to 1957 and ends with Bundesverdienstkreuz, made with both classes. Me was boring and i thought that was a nice idea for a nice display. KM market was empty and i needed a new collecting target

Here´s a sideshot to see the dusty old core ..... looks great. And a second pic with the start of that display

          Hi Rudiger!!!
One of my all time favourite pieces!!!
A very early S&L EK1 with all the earliest features and hardware!!!
The dusty core looks just great, don't clean it at all Rudiger, I love it just the way it is!!!
Some slight veining starting on the core, that also adds to the character of the piece!!
And what a great display taking shape, good idea!!!
          Thanks for sharing with us!!!!!!!!!!

                Hi Rudiger,

Very nice display! The '57 EK1 is very cool and I am always interested to see the very early '57 items as I do not own one. I am curious as you the finish the display, will you look for a specific MM for the '39 EKs or pick based upon availability, cost , or condition?

Once more many thanks, my friends

As i like BVK´s i wanted only Juncker pieces as these have latest been made up to 1965. The BVK am Bande is the earliest version from around 1952 to 1955

Same with the 57er EK´s, both are S&L from the very early period

The 1914 EK´s have to be awarded pieces from 1914 - 1918, so no piece that has been made for vets around 1920. The coming 14er EK I will be a "KO" piece with great worn look.

For the 39er EK´s i have no special wishes. I only have to love them on first look. Wouldn´t mind if the EK I has maybe a repaired catch. Avers it has too look great and worn.

The 1914 EK II has been shown here .... --> http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=696004

I hope that some day i can add an EK II from 1870 - that would be the icing on the cake

                        Correct

For same reason i will never add a 1870 EK I

To be honest .... for that money i´ll better try to find my RK u-boat commander grouping

Hello Rudiger ! RK U-Boat group......Years ago I visited Hans-Georg Hess in Wunstorf, and he showed me some of his medals. He had several post war pins from the U-995 reunions and his 1957 1st pattern core RK. During my visit (1980's) I also got a copy of his book and of course a couple signed photos. I have often wondered what happened to his items after his death in 2008 ? Tom

                            Hi Tom,

                            thanks for that
THAT for example would be a grouping i´d be proud of. I have a RK minesweeper grouping , a Heer RK grouping and Heer DKiG group and as last and most important i am looking out for such a u-boat commander group. These are very very hard to find. In all the years of collecting 57ers there was only one for sale.

Best would be a man who still served in the BW ....... complete with awards, pics and ribbon bar. For such a group i´d part from my two Heer groupings

But my time will come and till that i can save some money that i don´t have to sell other pieces Patience always pays off.

Hello Good catch! Nice cross in an interesting, early variant!
                              Not easy to find!

EK 1914 and 1939 will be much easier!

                              Best regards.

                              Maciej G.
