1957 Issue Spanish Cross

The Spanish Cross wasn't authorised in 1957 form, along with a number of other, mostly politically oriented, 3rd Reich Awards.

Mr. Williamson is right. The spanish cross was forbidden in 1957 together with the folliwing decorations:

Deutscher Nationalpreis für Kunst und Wissenschaft
Verdienstorden vom Deutschen Adler
SS-Dienstauszeichnung
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 13.März 1938
Medaille zur Erinnerung an den 01.Oktober 1938
Medaille zur Erinnerung an die Heimkehr des Memellandes
Ehrenkreuz der Deutschen Mutter
Spanienkreuz
Ehrenkreuz für Hinterbliebene deutscher Spanienkämpfer
Verwundetenabzeichen für deutsche Freiwillige im spanischen Freiheitskampf
Panzertruppenabzeichen der Legion Condor
Ehrenzeichen für deutsche Volkspflege
Deutsches Schutzwall-Ehrenzeichen
Sport-, Leistungs- und Siegerabzeichen of the NS-Organisations

it is quite ridiculous with the spanish cross. Germans were not allowed to wear the German decorations for the Spanish war, but if they got Spanish awards for the same war, they were allowed.

Why did they ban the West Wall Medal. What was so bad about that?

Yeah kind of weird why the spanish cross was forbidden, after all it was a combat award (well I consider it a combat award)!

Hmmmm... Why they banned the Westwall- medal? All decorations of the NSDAP and its organisations and all decorations in relation to the "construction" of the Großdeutsches Reich were forbidden. Maybe the fathers of the Bundesrepublik considered the Westwall as a part of that.

But they issued 1957 versions of the RAD Long Service Awards....

Again HMMMMM....

I have no idea. Maybe the RAD long service awards were recognized as same as the long service awards from Wehrmacht, Polizei and so on.
It is also difficult with the Volkspflege Ehrenzeichen. Because it was also awarded for political stuff it was forbidden in 1957 and the guys who got it for real "Volkspflege" in the meanig of a Red-Cross- award were also pissed off.
