      I'm with you on this one Nigel, and your points are the same I was trying to say in my post.
      And it is not only the paint. The quality of the EK seems poor as well.

        It's an interesting piece for sure Daniel that warrants discussion.

        Like most, I'm highly skeptical of it though. As Karsten and Nigel point out, there are parts that just seem so low in quality, that it's difficult to imagine a maker using them.

        The EK looks like a cast piece, which, to my knowledge, we don't see on other known good pieces. That alone would not disqualify the piece, but added to the other traits, seems pretty shaky to me. By other traits, I mean the soft features of the gold wreath, the rivets showing thru from the front side, etc.

        It's just my opinion, but it's not a piece I would want in my collection with the information we have at this time. Perhaps in time we will learn more about this type of cross and accept them as original. Only time will tell.
