A photo of RKT Major Hans Guhr (second from the left), among other officers. This photo was send by a great friend, Michael Guhr. On the right, Hans 1957 ribbon bar (including the RK).

                        Interesting Fact....

Hello Guy's Just an interesting fact about Generalmajor Karl Herzog.....I made two visits to his home (Munich). He showed me his RK and it was a S&L first pattern core with a finished ring eye...a real beauty ! Then he showed me his other RK and it was a S&L first pattern core with un-finished ring eye...also a beauty. I asked him why he had two of them, and he said because he never recieved his RK at the time of award in April 45. He joined the Bundeswehr in 1957 (after 10 years in a Soviet Gulag - 1945 - 1955) and he retired in 1966. I will be posting a studio photo of him in uniform wearing his Rk soon. Tom

                          Thanks Guy!!!
and Thanks Tom for the info on Karl Herzog, interesting to hear about him having two 1st pattern RK's and one having the finished eye, the other not, i believe that most collectors think that because of the extra work involved, the finished eye was earlier..............i dont!!!!!!!!!

                            The Herzog Rk's

Nigel, I forgot to say that both were marked 800. Back then I had no idea of why they were different, and I only assumed that S&L was the maker. I know one of them he purchased and the other was "Awarded " to him by the OdR. The OdR did this with other Vets who had not recieved their crosses by wars end. Henri Fenet was another, I remember him telling me about it. Tom
