Uhlig at an OdR annual reunion

Great photo ! I know he wore this Swas type when "out" of Germany. However I met him once at an OdR meeting and He was wearing a 57 type. I know the OdR had strick rules & regs about "proper" wearing of Medals & Decorations. Interesting thing...when I asked him for an autographed photo, he said "No, I do not do that" and walked away ! Did we post this one yet? I saw it years ago in the newspaper.

"Georg Martin with an Iron Cross he received as a private in World War II. “I don’t think it will come back in that form,” said Mr. Martin, 83, of Ingenried, Germany."

With Gen. Jimmy Doolittle -- you can barely see her mini EKI and EKII next to her post-war Glider Badge with Diamonds.

You might be more familiar with him from this photo:

...He threw away his Iron Cross before he was captured in Czechoslovakia in 1945. A junk dealer sold him the one he uses nowadays to pose for "historical photos". Yet he still has "that picture" of himself as Hitler's youngest hero. It sits, neatly framed, above a budgerigar cage in his living-room.

That's his wartime cross! He had to ask for a special permission to wear it.
