    Silver CCC fake?

Can I please get some opinions on this piece. My initial thoughts are that its a reproduction but I don't know enough about these to be sure as I don't normally deal with 57 items. Im sorry that the pics dont show crisp details but the pin and clasp appears glued on and the inside of the bayonet doesn't have any of the details that known real pieces I've seen have in this forum. It also has none of the normal wear on the edges that indicate that it's ever been worn.

    Thanks in advance,

    Jamie

Hello Jamie, first of al welcome to the forum.

Secondly, you are correct in stating this is indeed a fake.
The front does not look too bad, but lacking finish and has the wrong glow to it.
The back is a dead give-way that the whole thing is complete fake.

    1. 1957 CCC's are NEVER marked, so any mark showing is either fake or added to increase value
    2. This one is marked "21" for Godet ... as far as we know only St&L and Deumer made the CCC
    3. The type of pin tries to imitate the Deumer hardware ( see below snapshot ).

Most collectors do know the gentleman passing these on as original on eBay ....

Thanks Mathijs for the welcome and the quick reply. Its good to know my suspicions are correct. I've kept an eye on this particular eBay seller for a while as he is always trying to pass on rusty fake daggers. He'll say that he picked them up at a market and doesn't know whether they are real or not then starts the bid around $150. As I said, I know nothing about '57 medals so its good to make sure.

        Hi Jamie!
Nice to see new faces in the 57 section!!!!!!!!
Nothing really to add to what Mathijs has already told you, MM'd badges and clasps are pretty much unheard of on genuine 57ers, the "A" for Assmann, and L/58 for Souval being a couple of exceptions!!
If a dealer is well known for selling certain types of fakes, i'd steer clear of everything he sells, chances are they are probably all bad!!
Fakers often try to make a piece more attractive by giving it an "MM" especially for some of the top quality wartime makers such as Junckers, Godet, Deschler etc, this is especially true of DK's, if you see these marks on a 57 DK, i'd run!!!!!!!!
        Good hunting!!!!!!!!!!
