    Friedrich Kemnade photo!!

    Just came across this great pic of Friedrich Kemnade, not only an RK & Oaks and DKiG winner, but also only one of (i think) 8 guys who were awarded the E-Boat badge with Diamonds!!
    Also went on to serve in the Bundesmarine......

    His impressive, and possibly unique 57er medalbar, includes EK2, Olympic Decoration, 4 year long service medal, and several Italian medals including Afrika campaign, Military Valor Cross, and what appears to be 3 Military Valor medals!!

    Very cool photo Nigel. I think I have a copy of this one too.

    For me his medal bar is very interesting as it is made up of more Italian medals than German.

      Hello Guys !!! These pic's are great ! I wrote to him in the 80's and he sent me the same war time photo. He was one of the few that was awarded the E-Boat badge with diamonds. I never had a chance to meet him. I don't think he was at any of the 3 OdR reunions I attended. I have never seen the Photo of him wearing his 57er awards, thanks so much for posting !!!!!!! Tom

                    Yes the DKiG was awarded to Kemnade on 2.2.1942.

                    I was thinking the exact same thing. The photo is not the best quality. I think it is a photocopy of a photo but there does not appear to be even an inkling of a DKiG.
