Variant or Fake????

Hi Guys!!
Recently, i've seen several 57er medals turning up for sale that have a bevelled suspension ring, similar to that found on some wartime SS medals!
What are your thoughts on these pieces?? Different maker, variant, or modern fake???

Overall quality and finish look poor IMO!!!!!

The quality of these particular examples is not as good as I have seen on known originals. I don't think I would be in favour.

Hmm, good question Nigel.

The bevelled suspension ring is new to me. The pieces look die struck to me and not cast, which is their favor. Tough call without having them in hand.

They are strange thats for sure, there appear to be no polished highlights, and the cutout of the 18 year Police medal, does'nt look the best, as you said Mike, no obvious signs of casting?
The bevelled ring is the puzzler for me, it looks better made than the thin round ring on earlier originals???
I dont recall seeing this style until quite recently..............
Anyone else have any thoughts????

Looking at the silver one , there are some issues with it ...

Just check the corners of the red marked areas .... not straight cut, but more "Z" shaped.

Also, would there be both a silver and gold version of the 18 years ???

Thanks guys, you seem to be thinking along the same lines as me!! Not sure on the "gold" colour of the 18 year, it might just be the light, but the points Mathijs made about the poor finish tell a lot i think!
These bevelled ring medals are starting to appear on Ebay, especially with some of the sellers who are well known for passing on fakes, i know even the worst dealer has some good pieces, just as even the best dealer can be caugfht out with a fake!!
I think these pieces are to be avoided, as they are probably recently made fakes??

I'm in agreement that these are not collectible pieces. The lack of detail and relatively poor finish is a turn off.
