    Agreed RĂ¼diger that the Assman is the MUCH rarer piece!

      Could be the "O" of ... OMG, that's a nice badge .

      All jokes aside, perhaps the "o" mark would explain for a later die and the "less condition" of this badge ???
      It can also be found on later post war Souval cores made by Souval ( see attached ).

      Although I'm no strong admirer of the Assmann badges, this one looks quite nice .

        Hmm, that's very interesting! I hadn't seen it before and now I've seen it twice in two days and on pieces by different makers. I'm really not sure what to make of that.

        They're really quite nice when in hand. Extremely nice and unique finish. Very nice burnishing, etc. All the things expected from early pieces.

          Thanks for posting that RK pic with the "0" on the core!!
          Like Mike, thats a first for me too, no idea if theres any link between finding it on an Souval, and on an Assmann, but its something we can watch out for in the future!!!!
