Now it´s on me to respond...but i needed a beer to sort my minds

What a fantastic and honest grouping.
The BW pic in his full dress is a very well known pic and i always wondered where this group may be.
        Now i know

A bunch of very early pieces, fantastic B-frame RK with he S&L silver oaks. I too think that RK ribbon is his wartime one
The ribbon bar is really one of the weirdest i have seen The rows are not centered, with that red plastic under the ribbons but with wonderful heavy signs of wear. Think that was his first bar when he entered the BW.
Great medal bar with mm EK, fantastic looking early DK with the lovely brown copper tone. And the BVK still awarded in the 60s, think when he was retired.

Not much more to say except that a wonderful complete KM grouping is secured for a very very looooong time

I hope your beer tasted good!
So now you finally know where the group is. I think that you are right that this group will be secured for a VERY long time

The BVK1 was awarded in july 1968 while he retired from the BW 30 sept 1968.
Exactly 40 years after he started his service in the Reichsmarine at 30 sept 1928.

Another thing that got me more convinced about the ribbon is that I counted 25 white stitches.
Sofar none of my very earliest B-types that I have or had (or saw) have such a ribbon.

The ribbon bar maybe looks not centered because it isn't anymore.
          It is HEAVELY beaten up.
I will show you a picture of the back.
The same bar is on the picture right above in the frame, but than it was in a much better condition.

Now I will take a beer too.
          Like Nigel would say: CHEERS

                That sounds very funny Luud.

I think someone mounted it here because the ribbon was lost beside the EK2.

I keep coming back to look at all the great pieces here...... the medalbar, is a really nice one, wonderful early EK2, great frosting on the beading, and a mirror finish to the frame, not surprised to see it has the "4" MM, quality is really good, as is the 4 year long service medal!!
Just one of many nice items in the group!!

yeah, stupid me that I didn't notice that destroyers miniature before.
I think I was blinded by the crosses

I also come back to see the pictures Nigel.
I knew you would love the EK's and ordensspange.

So off to bed, I have a busy week ahead, I hope to get online a few times this week.

I will end today with a short overvieuw off his service in the Bundesmarine

I had a crazy busy day at work today and could only pop on briefly but was too busy to comment. Then I see a flurry of wonderful activity from many great collectors and THIS THREAD!

                        Simply SPECTACULAR Luud!

This may be the very best LFU to date!

Each individual piece is spectacular, but most important to me is how this man came to earn and own these pieces. Having this detailed history from the start of his service to his retirement and such amazing highlights in between makes this a collectors dream and a tremendous piece of history.

Congrats Luud, on an absolute one a of kind group to a very brave and heroic sailor and officer!

Like Nigel and others, I'll be back to absorb more of this group and will comment more as the significance sinks in a bit more.
