Here (for me) is one of the "stars" of the show, an early S&L KVK2, it uses the first die, with the different pebbling and slightly different numbers, the same as the one i showed recently, but this one has the normal S&L jump ring, so its a kind of transitional piece.......

And finally, the 18 year Long Service medal, this one has the thicker, squarer jump ring, i have'nt had the time to compare it with too many others, at the moment i'd think it was an early S&L??

              Hi Nigel,

Another great find. Congrats. I love it when we all work with each other and help each other in their collection. I owe a lot to the 57 group as well.
              Regards
              Rudy

A very nice medal bar Nigel, especailly with the DA18.

Congratulation, and nice to hear that you got a tip from our guys.

I like these bars more and more, even I do not have 57er is in my collection.
But I guess that there is no name belonging to it, even worse as on ribbon bars.

Three Deumer, why do you think that the Dienstauszeichnung is a S&L?
The chance could be good that its a Deumer too?

Unfortunately S&L and the other 57er maker did not mark the most of their medals.

Your medal bar collection must be huge, because you showed us many of them the last time.

                    Mixed makers ?

Hello guys ! Since this medal bar is a "mixed" group...Deumer & S&L, who would have constructed it for the vet ? Did the vet have to take the medals to someone to have it put into a group ? Thanks again for putting up with my questions ! Tom (by the way I LIKE this group very much !!!)

                        Thanks Guys!!!
@Matthais, the EK and Ost are Deumers, but i'm pretty sure the KVK is an S&L, i have'nt looked at enough 18 or 25 year long service medals to be sure who the maker is, but "something" is telling me S&L!! We'll see!!

I really love these 57er medal bars and there are so many different variants that you maybe never finish your collection

                          Great bar, Nigel

Like the other said it well can be possible that the KvK and 18 years long service are Deumers....

I am no expert on KvK´s but the big die flaw on the sword.....was that one on your other piece too? Maybe it´s possible to track this KvK back to another Deumer or pure S&L bar.....of course not only with this big flaw but with a slowly growing one.

                            Hi Rudiger!!
I'm guessing you mean the mark on the right hand sword blade on the obverse? I dont know if that is a flaw, it feels quite rough, possibly post production damage? but it could be a flaw?? There a smaller flaw on the opposite blade that is on both crosses!!
And you are quite right, only by closely comparing many. many KVK2's from different periods etc. can you build up a picture of the changes and developments they went through!!

                              Tom,
Check THIS THREAD for a bar built by Sedlatzek. We've seen many bars built by this firm, most are in Nigel's exploding collection!

What can I say Nigel? Another SUPER bar with very nice pieces!

And if you are correct, and I'm thinking you are, about the "missing link" on the KvK, then it's not only a great bar, but it provides a revelation in understanding S&L's manufacturing timeline! Great work buddy!

Rüdiger makes a great point about the big flaws on the swords. Can't say I've seen that on any KvK 2's before.
