This rivet I never encountered on a 57.

Has anyone seen another like this?

                Hi Luud!!!
Friday has become my favorite day of the week!! Once again you have showed us a stunning, rare, and early badge!!!
Condition and quality are excellent, the gilding is really nice, the contrast in colours on these badges always looks good i think!!
The other early numbered PAB's i've seen (and it has'nt been many!!) have had the usual "donut" rivets, its the first time i've seen this style of rivet, very interesting!!!
The blob does look like it could be solder, also is the number box soldered onto the badge or glued??
Its just a great looking top quality badge Luud, one to be proud of!!
                Thanks for showing!!!!

                  Thanks Nigel!
The number is glued (old glue) into the box.

Whenever you have time, please compare the catch with your EK1's to see if one of them has an identical catch. I checked many items already but couln't find one.

Well ... this is what a numbered PAB should look like !!!
Damn, its almost too good for words, it simply oozes quality, just look at that finish.

Its also an interesting type of rivets .... cant seem to place it on other 57er badges.

As to the "blob" ... any chance a "o" mark could be under there .... when the badge got coated ( or gilt ) the paint which accumulated inside the "o" circle bubbled up ?
Does that make any sense or it my Friday Happy Hour talking ???

Thanks for showing Luud, it shows how vast and full of quality your collection is.

I also hope to show some goodies here soon .

                      Thanks Mathijs,

I really don't know if a blob could happen that way, but I have seen so many weird things that I don't rule anything out.

As usual an outstanding piece from your collection

The rivets are IMO the earliest, maybe even ones used in wartime too?
We usually see hollow rivets or solid ones that don´t have a domed head. On wartime pieces domed heads can be found....if i am not wrong.

The blob really seems to be a piece of solder and so it´s good to see that they finished the wreath after all work like soldering has been done.

The catch seems to have 2 layers of metal?

Gilding is a little bit unusual, very shiny but it can be that they used chemicals that have been in stock for a long time....maybe wartime ones, too.

All i all a wonderful and rare bugger you show us and really worth for your great and always interitsting LFU´s

When I look closer to the rivets I think, that they could be hollow and it
looks that they were filled with lot.

Rivets are unusual for Steinhauer & Lück, but that would be a lot of trouble and I don´t see the reason. I can understand your wondering, since we are use to see a different type of solid rivets on the earliest pieces. But there is still so much we still have to learn and makers to find.

Never the less that badge is a killer and quality superb. A premium piece in any collection.
