    Bitten by the 57 Bug!

    Hi all,

My name is Stuart and i'm in the UK and I have been fascinated by WW2 since my child hood.

just a quick introduction as I am new to the 57 forum but not WAF, been collecting on here for a while and I have a very varied taste in buying items that take my fancy and fit within my small budget.

Suddenly i find myself deeply attracted to the 1957 awards, I have picked up a lovely destroyer badge from a very nice fellow WAF member and he is kindly holding two more 1957 KM awards for me. The quality is stunning in these early and mid -production awards and the prices are far more within my reach than the 3rd Reich equivolents.

Look forward to learning more about these and how and where to find the early ones and avoiding the later poor quality copies.

    Cheers,

    Stu

    Hi Stuart!!
Welcome to our little gang of 57 collectors!!!
It sounds like you are off to a good start with the pieces you already have, and the ones you've got coming!! You've also said the most important thing too, collect the earlier pieces if you can, and avoid the later stuff, they are worlds apart! You are right about the quality of the early pieces, and in most cases they are still affordable, especially when compared with the wartime equivalents!!
Show your pieces when you get them , we'd all love to see them!!!
    Happy Hunting!!!!!character0110.gif

        Hi Stuart,

I too got bitten by the 57er bug but it was my love of ribbon bars that brought me here.

        Good luck!

Welcome to our small section, Stuart.

here you will find and get most answers to your questions and we are looking forward to your pieces and questions.

The 57ers are a very nice collecting field with as much history behind as on wartime peaces.

Search through the threads here, read and learn and you will get more infected than you are now

              That makes 2 of us.

Recently picked up and EKII, EKI and an RK first core with a C frame from a member of the forum.

Also an IAB in silver to which I have added a bronze.

              They are great.

I can see myself adding to the collection.

                Hi Stuart,

Welcome to our sub-forum, always nice to see the 57er family expanding.
My advice would be reading through the majority of threads and picking up as much as possible.

If you have any doubts, questions or require advice on certain items, feel free to post here.
Most of the "regulars" will be able to help you out .

Its also a good place to hunt what you are still missing in your collection.

                Grtz
