    A question from newbie

    Hello,

I am on my way to get my first 57 EKs. To be honest in a past years I didn't like 57 ones... but now I'm slowly getting in love with them

My first question is very simple: what makers was making 57s EK?
I know that we may find most common S&L (marked "O"), Meybauer (?), Souval, and...?
Also Godet was making oakleaves (marked "21") but did he made any EK?

P.s. there is not too much 57 EKs on market, so if any of you want to sell any nice looking early examples of 1st and 2nd class in a fair price, I'll be interested

    Hi Borzadow!!
Glad to hear you are getting into 57ers, like you, i did'nt think much of them to start with, lots of people told me they were junk!! Be we know now, that the early pieces are really nice quality, not much different from wartime pieces!!
As for makers, you've got S&L, Deumer, Assmann, Souval, Deschler, i think Godet made a few DK's, and possibly Zimmermann too!!
Please post your pieces when you get them, we'd all love to see them!!
    -Nigel
PS no Godet 57 EK's are known at present!!

I'll post it if I'll get it!

Btw I see that there isn't much 57 collectors so it will be an honor to join to you

p.s. was there given any license to markers for 57ers, or they just manufactured them by "outlaw"?

Yeah, I've got the same for years with my imperial passion... But I think that I'll make a break with imperial stuff for a while. Now I feel that it is a time for 57ers

Welcome Borzadow! While not as active as I once was in collecting 57er's, we original "rat pack" members always welcome a new 57er devotee. It's rather difficult to find the early pieces these days and the prices have really skyrocketed in the last few years. If you work hard at finding them and educate yourself with the many posts here on this forum, you'll have a great time!

                    Thanks
I see that there will be many homeworks to do, but I love to discover new facts.
I hope that my first 57er wouldn't be a failure... I've got one on my eye, if I'll get it I'll share it with you for discuss!
