Firstly, hello everyone, I've been lurking for a short while and am finally getting around to posting. It's been quite tricky learning the ins and outs of Iron Crosses as well as differences between manufacturers. I'd appreciate any opinions on this piece. Personally, I think it's fake (mainly because it was a really cheap purchase). I'd also greatly appreciate the reasons why you think it's fake.

You are right it is a fake, and just about everything is wrong with it, the hardware for starters, the rivets, compare with good examples shown here (many by Mathijs) No 57 DK carried an MM, which this appears to have on the pin, and the whole piece looks to have been artificially aged!! The detail on the Oakleaves etc. is'nt right and so on.......
If it did'nt cost much, then no damage done!!! Keep looking thru the old threads here, learn what to look out for, and hopefully you can land a nice one, if you are in doubt, post pics here first, someone will give you the or

You could use as a coaster to put your beer on . Sorry, but this piece is just horrible crap

Just search the forum on DKiG and you'll find lots of early, decent examples ( and yes, many from myself ).
