Hi Jens, with the open hingeblock and thick catch, i'd date this a little later, very late 60's maybe into the 70's??
See what the other guys think!!!
        Still a nice CCC!!!!!

I would even dare to date it later .... modern made .... eighties / nineties ???

Matthieu, can you tell me why ?? Comparing it with my other CCC which was datet very early it has many similarities ... and most other items with open hingeblock were dated mitd to late what points to "modern" ?

            Thanks for advice....

              Hello Jens,

I'm certainly no expert on the 57er CCC, but for some reason, I dont like this one.
However, I dont have any specimen in my collection to compare against.
I will leave it up to my fellow collectors to discuss ...

Nevertheless, here are my points of doubt ....

Yes, this are some more points where it is diffeent from the very early one ... the rust comes from the pin which secures the hinge. The scratches are not secondary, the clearly origin in the manufacturing proces. The same with the things looking like cast marks ...they also can be marks resulting from a little worn forge/pressing tool...

So where are the other experts ? No more opnion from the CCC specialists ?
                Regards,

                Jens

I think you are correct. Definitely not of an early production.
