    BWB.....unkown maker!!!

Found this interesting BWB, solid, made in a tombak type metal, well detailed, the obverse design looks to be the same (or very similar ) to Souval's 57er BWB's (also solid ) But the reverse has very different hardware, of a type i've only seen before on Austrain Kameradschaftbund awards!
Its not a de-nazified badge, theres no sign of a swastika, or any sign that one has been removed!!
I've seen a couple of identical BWB's to this in the last few years, all (including this one ) have come from Austria, one was in a vets grouping, so i'm thinking thei could be by another small scale Austrian maker???
    Anyway, have a look........001.JPG

It could be Daniel, but i would'nt dismiss it so easily!! If its a fake, then what is it supposed to be a fake of? not a wartime piece, theres no swastika, and its solid!! the obverse design is the same as Souval's 57er BWB (also solid) Also i cant imagine any faker using that hardware??? I've seen a solid BWB with this same design in an Austrian vets 57er grouping!!So.......who knows!!!

Nigel, not sure what to make of this one with the strange hardware on the reverse. Does it measure out the same as other WB's?

George, measurements are pretty much standard for a 57 WB, it is a little thinner than a solid 57 Souval wound badge, and lighter too, but the Souval is a big 'ol boy!!

This is proof to me that there is still a great deal to be learned about 57er's. This one cannot be endorsed or dismissed until more research and discoveries are made.

I love the look of it! It sure has the "been there" look we all appreciate so much.
