    1957 e.k. Ii

I picked up this 1957 E.K. II for $20 at a show in North Jersey last weekend. It's the first one I have ever owned and I was wondering if anyone can tell me anything about it. Is it an earlier one? Was it made from WWII parts? Is the maker known? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

      Hi Barry,

Looks to be an early S&L made piece ... does it have a magnetic core and the beading flaws on the frame ?

Matthieu, yes, it has a magnetic core. I don't see any beading flaws on the frame, but then again I don't know what to look for exactly.

Beading flaws ... little ( or sometimes large ) imperfections on the beading of the frame. Below attached is an early S&L EK with wartime frame.

          Yours seems to be a mid produced S&L ... I assume its also 3-piece made ( 2 frames + magnetic core ) ?

              Hello

A good S&L EK2, probably of mid to late 1960's vintage.

              Regards
              David

Agree with David, it does'nt look to have the quality of a very early piece, i too would date it mid to late 60's.....still nice though!!!!!!!!!
