    Hi David,

    I thank you very much.

    Hi Adam S.,

I am new to the '57 game though this has been a bit of a wake-up call!
    That's it!

      Hi,

I will try it once more, in not so harsh words as before.

      But I'm really frustrated!

It is more than 4 years ago, that I posted first here in this 1957 section.

At that time just the specialist here had no problems, to call copies as "reissued 1957 awards".

It lasted a long time and heated debates, to bring over, that there was no reissue or award for these pieces.

It lasted a longer time, and that is defintely not finished, that only exact specified pieces could be 1957 versions.

That is the historical truth, and it is not in the personal view of a collector, to ignore the reality.

And when I have a look on the two last threads here about

      Cased '57 Oaks & Oaks w Swords

      and

      direct behind that

      '57 Oaks for review

and I see the comment in the first thread:

"This is what a decent set of 57er OLS should look like ..."

      then I can explode!

But when I see, a few hours later:
"Uwe, I'm well aware that no 1957 issue oaks & OLS do exist ..."

      that gives me hope!

      Uwe

You see, I can be reasoned with .... . And yes, it does pay to read through old threads.

But you must admit that, even though postwar copies, the so-called "1957 issue" pieces to have some quality to them .

We've covered this before around the OL's and OL&S. Whether we call them "copies" or some other term it doesn't really matter. What counts is that collectors wish to learn about the examples produced after 1945 up to the 1960's, I think. Just my .02 worth.

Maybe we should change the term used. Instead of '57 issue oak leaves, they are "replacement" examples purchased by vets to wear after the war. Similar to the S&L Blue Max's. The early ones made by German manufactures that were sold and worn by vets are desirable. The ones made later just for collectors are not.

Unfortunately Vince (sftrooper86) is not going to accept a return or refund my money.

I am contacting the moderators who can hopefully lend a hand even though this deal was done against board regulations.

It's a shame that somebody is willing to throw away their reputation this way, unless he does not plan on returning to the community.

If an item produced after 1957 is a "Fake" I guess we all collect Fakes. Get a new hobby adam.

After '57 is fine but a cheap piece of garbage is not considered a quality '57' badge.

I am now working with Vince on a credit to be applied to other items. I am optimistic of the outcome and thank him for being accommodating.
