I fully agree.
Such a KM ribbon bare is VERY hard to find and more than fantastic.
It will always be the bar that slipped through my hands at the very last moment
Luckily Rudiger had the finances at that moment and was able to get it.

There is not much to find about this person. I did find a book where this was something written about him. (It is in German, but most people here understand it well):

Dieser schneidige Frontoffizier stellte seine Opferbereitschaft und Kältblutigkeit vor allem in höllandischen Seegebiet bei härtesten Einsätzen im Kanal während der Invasion unter Beweis.
Seine bei Brest durchgeführten Gegenangriffe brachten britischen Seestreitkräften hohe Verluste.
Nach dem Kriege war er als Fregattenkapitän Kommandeur der 1. Schiffs-Stamm-Abteilung der Bundesmarine.

I noticed that you call him Gustav in stead of George.
Everytime I come across his name, it is George.
Is it a writing error or did he use more than one name?

Ha ha, it is not so important.

I already thought that Gustav is German for Georg or Georg was his middle name in stead of his first name.
I accidently call him George in stead of Georg!!!!

What an outstanding grouping, and with all those beautiful medals I find myself most intrigued by the "Kurland" ribbon and device. Is this a strictly 57 award or were they awarded at wars end?

I don't know much about 57's but I'm trying to learn!

The Kurland arm bands were awarded. They were not strictly a 57 creation.

That was a job that made much fun......but sadly the "boss" in the house here allows only one tunic displayed .......ah well......if i ever can get a TR tunic from a u-boat officer i´ll have to speak a few convincing words with buying much flowers
