    Ek1

Gents, what can you tell me about this? I mean, besides the obvious '57 EK1. Can you identify a maker or anything else interesting about this for me, please?
    Please pardon the dust.

Looks like a modern made Steinhauer & Lück ... inner frame looks like it has been badly cut out.
Also, once again, I notice the dimple on top of the EK1 ... yet another sign they might use the similar frame for their EK2.

Hi Eric!! Mathijs is spot on!!
I will only add that it has several other features of a later made EK.....
Open hingeblock, Thick catch and the core looks to have been painted after assembly (paint on beading)
        Is the core magnetic??

          Yes, it is magnetic.

Hi Eric, magnetic core means a little earlier than we thought, maybe early 70's?

Nigel, thanks. I've been reading through this '57 section this morning and was coming to the same (70s) conclusion as well.
I've had this for somewhere around 10 years. If my memory serves this was an eBay buy.
So fairly common but with a slightly desirable iron core?
              Thanks,
              Eric Gaumann

Hi Eric, yes, more desirable with magnetic core!! The 57EK's by S & L went thru lots of changes down the years, with several different pins, solid hingeblocks followed by open, thin catches followed by thick ones, magnetic & non-magnetic cores, etc!!!
Theres enough to fill a book!!!!

Lets hope so, Nigel ... the sooner, the better .
