Next up, those attributed to Deumer...

Too bad the burnishing doesn't photograph better. These are really sweet!

Helpful side by side shot Mike! Each piece has the hardware we would normally associate with S & L, but on Deumer pieces!!
Heres a couple of possibilities (imo)
      1. Deumer buy hardware from S & L (or an unknown maker)
      2. S & L buy Deumer stock (badges or dies) and make use of them
      Anybody got any other suggestions???

I would opt for your first scenario Nigel. The fact that these WB's are burnished, which is done after finishing and the hardware is applied before finishing, says they were more likely finished by Deumer as S&L didn't seem to burnish WB's. I've never seen a burnished S&L WB. So, IMO, they are Deumer badges and the hardware was sourced from IMO S&L. The hardware might be from another maker, but IMO it is certainly consistant with hadware we see on S&L badges.

Well, after i saw what can happen if you have another or other suggestion i am really careful to speak out own opinions who maybe are not "wanted".

Rudiger, please feel free to give your suggestions or opinions!! We all welcome them, things got a little heated before, but lets put that behind us!!
To be honest, i think opinions is all we do have at the moment, its so hard to proove something like this one way or the other!
There dont seem to be any written records as to what happened back in the 50's and 60's, unless anyone has acess to S & L and Deumer records, or knows anyone who worked there, its all guesswork!!
A question to everyone...... Are there any other example of Deumer badges with non Deumer hardware, other than Wound Badges, if there are, that could perhaps provide some clues???

That's not a fair statement RĂ¼diger. ALL opinions are wanted and welcome, surely you know our family better than that. If not, we have failed as friends and that would be a TRULY sad thing. What is not wanted are antogonistic challenges to every little statement and being forced to qualify every statement with "IMO" or it gets blasted and names are called like "starting collector." Did the original challenging "question" even need to be asked whether what had been said up to that point was fact or opinion? Of course it was opinion! We deal in opinions all the time without having to say "IMO". Why was this particular point suddenly challenged? Look back to the "refinished" KvK1 thread and you will see the same tact taken.

Our little family must be better and stronger than these common forum word games. I truly believe if you have an unbiased reading of this thread, it is clear who asked honest questions, who kept a cool head and who was looking to start an arguement. Who was looking for an argument, making inflammatory statements and who got drawn into one?

We have got to put this CRAP behind us and get back to supporting one another. What set this section of the WAF apart from all other sections and other forums was the spirit of cooperation and comradeship in our little and happy group. We must get back to that what ever it takes! We cannot allow ourselves to be divided.

Now PLEASE, let's talk about these Wound Badges and other awards!!!

Although I don't want be pat of this thread, I have to add the KvK link where I am accused that my tact is wrong so that the "objective" reader now can descide for themself.
They can judge themself if it all says more about me or about others.

And it suprises me when it is mentioned that they want to discuss the items again, keep on defending themself at my costs.....with my words that keep on taking out of it's context.
(Like f.a. the "starting wartime ek collectors", and note that I don't know anyone that ever considerd that Mike is a wartime ek collector).

I will take the honor to myself and leave this thread completely, so goodbey.
Not this section or elsewhere on the WAF, no member here is able to take the slightest fun out of me collecting.

We obviously feel very different about what has transpired. That will happen sometimes.

Let's move past it and get back onto positive things. Let's get back to supporting one another in our hobby and growing in knowledge together.
