Hi Nigel,
I already vented my frustration towards such people ... what harm is there in mentioning the name of the veteran ???
A real shamefull move of him asking money or trying to sell you other items in order to obtain more info.
But scr*w him ... what you have is a wonderfull grouping, all of them nice, early made pieces just oozing quality.
Any chance you can complete the medal bar ? Would be great to have the missing ones .
Interesting to see the hardware on the PAB, its one of 1st I've seen with the "o" mark and a wider pin setup ... most of these have the more narrow pin setup.
The EK2 mm 3 is a real bonus, I know you like these ... Same for the EK1.
Cant comment on the Ost medal, my knowledge on these is below zero .
All in all ... wonderfull and glad you got the entire grouping kept together ...
We've all seen nice groupings split up for profit gain by their seller .
Grtz

Thanks Mathijs, your comments are appreciated!! And, you asked the one thing i forgot about!!
Do you guys think i should add the missing Finnish medals to complete the bar, or leave it as it is????
And please keep your eyes open for an SS Panzer Soldbuch, fresh to the market, as that belongs to this guy, and holds all the answers....

Excellent Nigel! Glad to see all arrived safely! It's very nice goup you have there. If it were my decision, I would add the Finnish medals if period ones with similar wear/patina were found. Nice Deumer EKII on a medal bar. Seems most medal bars have S&L's, this ones a Deumer. BONUS with the MM!
Definitely interesting how glossy the paint is on the Ost medal.
VERY NICE My Friend!

Ehhhh
I remember a similar situation when all the auctions dissapeared.
My bids got cancelled on these items.
Afterwards I was happy because if I won them I had to pass on an offer I got.
But on an other Forum all the links of the auctions were posted and the buyer as well as the seller were called greedy, selfish, dishonest and many many more.
I really don't care either way but it really surprises me that the words posted by members are depending on who posts it.

Well Luud, if trying to save yet another grouping from being split makes me greedy, selfish and dishonest, then its a very sad day!
I wish i had enough money to save every grouping that came up for sale, and i would gladly pass up the chance to buy one piece from a grouping, if someone else was trying to keep the whole lot together, and indeed have done that in the past!!

Well guys, i took your advice, and found some replacement medals to complete the bar!!
I found two Finnish medals of liberty one 1st, and one 2nd class. I dont know much about Finnish medals, but it seems these medals can be found with two different dates on the reverse, "1939" & "1941" i'm guessing that maybe the "1939" version was issued to Finnish troops, who were already fighting the Russians by then, while German winners of the medals perhaps were awarded the "1941" version??? Not sure
Anyway, i could only find the bronze 2nd class in the "39" form, so perhaps this is'nt 100% accurate, but i've tried!! And it'll do for now.........
This is the 1st class in silver, hallmarked on bottom edge of reverse....medals 683.jpg
