    EB case..opinions please!!

Hi guys, could i have your opinions on this Heer Ehrenblattspange case please!!
Its definitely old and of good quality, but is it a 57er, or an early fake of a wartime version???
The finish, look and feel of the outside of the case are very similar to an early 57 EK or RK case, but i have'nt seen this style of halbetui case for a 57er Ehrenblattspange, with a paper hinge, and the more square shape to it??
I'll post a few pics, so hopefully you will be able to get a "feel" for the case!!medals 565.jpg

              Hello

Most of the Honour roll claps are to be found in the two seperate parts cases, that is a base and a lid which lifts off completly. However, there are occasionally to be found the halbetui style cases, using the cloth and, or paper covering as a hinge. Have a look at Dions in this thread, and compare:

              http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/foru...d.php?t=431672

Looking at the case shown here it certainly looks as if it may be an early clasp case, but I'm not 100% certain, mainly due to the inner base colour. I've never seen the clasp cases with any other inner base lining other than black - but of course that doesn't neccesarily mean that this isn't an honour roll clasp case.

              Regards
              David

Hi David!! Thanks for your input, i know its not easy to judge from photo's!!
Comparing it with other cases i've got, the construction seems like 1960's, so its the right period, but the style is more wartime than 57, i think it might be a wartime repro, but its well made, and i'll still keep my Ehrenblattspange in it, either way, as i think it looks a lot better cased!!
                Cheers David!!!

Jeez, wish I had something usefull to add here, but my knowledge of such cases is below zero .

However, just looking at it, the white inlay & the papererlike white backing throw me off.
My best guess ... this might be semi-modern made wartime lookalike ???

On the other hand, it'll certainly highlight the Ehrenblattspange inside !!!

Thanks for your thoughts Mathijs, i am thinking along the same lines as you!!
But like you said, it makes a nice home for the EB spange & stickpin............medals 576.jpg-Nigel

I never seen such a case from a safe source holding a new form award.

I don't know if you also bought the other case from the same seller, but he also had a similar case for sale where the upper and lower inlet were bleu.
I just looked at the auction and he already removed all the pictures.
So I only know that he advertised it as:
This auction is for what I have been told could be a 1957 case for the German Luft. Honor Roll Clasp. The underside of the bottom that comes out DOES Blacklight.

Hi Luud, no, i did'nt even see the other case that was for sale, but i dont think they were trying to mislead anyone, i paid very little for it, so its fine!!!

Sorry so VERY late to this party! It's been a hectic week!

It's a good looker when assembled buddy, but I fear at best it's a later made piece or an outright copy. At least your investment was small and the EB does look comfy resting inside!

Here are some shots of the inside of my case for comparison. I hope you don't mind me posting them!

HI Mike, thanks for those photo's, its interesting to see the construction methods used on these cases!!
Mine is, i think, just an old copy of a wartime case, but it'll do for now!!
