    DKiG Your opinion

    Your opinion

It is an early DK and it is made of old details (with Zimmermann DK-parts)?

    Thank you!

    The red ring was painted
    Weight : 57,85grm
    Dimensions: 60,5 x 60,5 mm

Some are convinced that these exist ( I'm not really one of them ) ..

Looking at this example, its certainly a low end constructed piece, practically no detail and very poor workmanship ...

Perhaps its a "fake" fake Zimmerman ....

The only other Zimmermann 57 DK i've seen is the one owned by Daniel, its in the pinned DK database thread.
I remember the red ring on that one was painted, and the EK was poorly painted, so that matches!!
I think Daniel is the best placed guy to say wether this is a good one??

These 57 pieces have the same flaws like the war made pieces ;-)

I am sorry but I still do not like this DK at all.
A while ago I expressed some doubts about these:

I only want to add that a casted copy also copied the flaws.

I have no idea what measurements are accepted on wartime Zimmermans, but my wartime Zimmermans measure 63mm*63mm.

IMO, the evidence provided by Luud in the link he posted says it all. I know there are varying opinions, but the tell tale signs are, IMO overwhelming in what they say.

                Hello

Sorry, but in my opinion, having owned, examined and handled both genuine wartime made Zimmermann DKs and early, mid and late made 57 DKs from different makers, this is neither a Zimmermann nor a 'real' 57 DK.

There is no quality to the piece whatsoever, and I cannot see any of the classic Zimmermann flaws that would suggest that this is made up from left over wartime parts (which would have to be from the WW2 Zimmermann light weight DKs). The 'maker mark' bears no resemblance to any genuine Zimmermann one.

So sorry, but this is, in my opinion, a cheap and tacky copy of a Zimmermann that can't really fool anyone, but now dressed up as a 57 due to rising interest in 57s, and of course, prices.

                Regards
                David
