Hi Guys!! I was looking at the medals on some of my medal bars, when i noticed how different the Ostfront on this two place bar looked!! medals 518.jpg It has a much wider rim than normal, the EK2 on here is non-magnetic, so i reckon the bar is late 60's/1970, somewhere around that period, so i thought the Ostfront must have changed over time, but the modern production Ostfronts i've seen, dont have the broad rim either Heres a pic of a normal Ostfront....medals 517.jpg

Heres the reverse's if that helps...medals 523.jpg
medals 524.jpg The S & L has neater lettering, and a few other small differences, inc. a broader sword handle!!
I am thinking there are too many differences for these two medals to both be from the same maker????sigpic 57ers...."The Devil Is In The Detail"

Interesting comparison buddy!
I've had both types in my collection and each of the pieces I've had with broad rim have had much sharper, crisper strikes. The two types definitely seem to be from different dies as you have pointed out. I've always wondered who the makers were. Hopefully, this thread will bring some greater understanding.
