    Fake Medal Bars

Watch out for these fake medal bars, several have turned up on E-bay Germany recently! They all look very flat and square, and feature very poor EK's, KVK's Ostfronts etc. They always arrange the ribbons in the same style, with little padding underneath, and they often like to put a least one unusual medal on the bar, life saving/mine rescue/ or maybe a foreign award!BuH0OBgBmk~$(KGrHqUOKi8EusBo,9d7BL+!24GgQ!~~_12.jpg

Jeez, I knew they were faking wartime medal bars, even Imperial ones ... but now also 57ers ??????
Goes to tell how far some people are willing to go to make some extra money in this business it has become.

That 1st one could have fooled me for sure, based on these pix ... 2nd one is quite obvious.

Thanks for the heads-up, Nigel ... much appreciated, buddy .

Another fake/put-together medalbar is on E-bay.........!ByFM+KwCGk~$(KGrHqJ,!j!Ew5QI6j9tBMQO1,G!Wg~~_12.jpg Usual style, flat/square look to bar, ribbons arranged in that "unique" way, very poor versions of KVK & Ostfront, 12 year on its own, and the "special" medals to make it more interesting Austrian & Afrika!!
The only good thing about this one is that the EK2 looks like an original Souval blank core EK2!
Starting bids........139 Euro's Lets hope no one falls for it!!
        Well spotted by Mike

Not sure about the first bar in this thread but the rest of these look to be the work of an Austrian called Alfred Vollmost!!! I think he has a few different user-names on eBay.

Watch out for him gents, don't get caught as he doesn't take paypal either!

Good man Nigel in bringing this to the attention of the 57er forum.

          Kind regards

Not sure on the old Austrian & Imperial awards (right order etc.) maybe Pierce can shed light on those?
but the KVK2 looks to be a poor quality, and the Ostvolk also looks to be a crappy piece, and on the wrong ribbon, the kameradshchaftbund medals look ok, but the whole bar has that put-together look to me??
I noticed the seller says "fleamarket find, with no guarantee"
Not one i would want, what do you think???

Could be a "made" medal bar ... these Austrian mounts are quite easy to add & remove individual medals.

I agree. I think the Austrian medals look ok though it is hard to tell from the sellers pics. I think the bar on the Austrian bravery award means that medal was awarded twice, but not sure if that means it should be on the bar or not. I am not as up to date on the Austrian bars as i am on the German.

I see there is a Wehrmacht Long Service Cross for 25 years and i do not think it is a 57er (just by the look of it) but can't tell as the obverse is covered by another medal...the owner would have had a long and seemingly varied career... And i am not sure where the Ostvolk came in in his service time...these were for foreign soldiers and Austria was considered a German state after the 1938 Anschluss.

The order is correct for an Austrian until you get to the Wehrmacht Long Service Award but how stringent were the rules in post-war Austria?

It looks like the Austrian Commemorative Medal ribbon was dipped into a cup of tea...rest of the white ribbons on the bar are gleaming....but not this one....

I've got a saying; "no guarentee, not for me!"

                Kind regards
