    '57 RKs prices and stats?

    Hi y'all!

Question: I've been studying RK recipients (umm....) for a while now and have been wondering. How many wear their actual awards from WWII in denazified form?

Another question: We all know '57 Chevys are great and desirable What would denazified RKs or '57 RKs go for these days?

    Thanks
    Lev

    Hello

Many WW2 RK holders can be seen in post war photos, (at reunions and the like), wearing their new form (57) RKs. How many of them actually bought the new form RK is unknown, but I'd guess that quite a lot of them did, and of those who went on to serve in the likes of the Bundeswher probably most.

Price wise it depends on whether the new form RK is a first or second pattern, who made it and whether attributable, and whether a private sale or from a dealer. However, as rough ballpark, a good unattributed 1st pattern new form RK will be in the region of £550 to £800, and second patterns (by second pattern, for the purpose of this discussion I'm only looking at the early ones and up to the mid 1970's) anything from £200 to £600.

    I hope this helps.

By the way, a 57 Chevy? Is that akin to ones 57 Bentley S1 Continental fastback, with bodywork by H.J. Mulliner

    Regards
    David

Ah thanks, wondering why. Were these issued or were they made in quantities

Now THOSE are sleek looking cars! But I'll always love the roar of a V8 in the morning...in contrast of the purrs (more or less) of the cars made these days...who can tell which is which?!

        Hello

The 1957 new form items were not issued or awarded. They were simply officially sanctioned replacements for some of the WW2 awarded items, but with the now banned symbols removed, e.g. the swastika. How many of them were produced isn't known.

The ones to look out for are the very early, quality pieces, often made from left over wartime stock or using the original dies etc.

        Regards
        David
