    New arrival in 57 harbour

    Hello

After a long wait this baby arrived.
My first 57 award in 2010 and i like it a lot.
Not in the best condition but nevertheless a nice worn very early S&L piece.

As always it is difficult to capture the beauty of this KM badge on a picture / scan.

    Enjoy!

Here's a compare with a heavily worn wartime BM Schwerin Berlin 68 Zerstörer i have in my collection.
As you can see the wear leaves the same marks on the rail of the bow.

      Best regards

Aaaah, good to see a new ship posted here
A wonderful very early destroyer, my friend. Seems the recipient has been proud of it and wore it often
        Very good new catch Stijn

BTW i love your Schwerin destroyer too

Thank you Rüdiger. I knew you would appreciate a nice KM badge.

Indeed a lovely wartime Zerstörer if i may say so myself.
Actually it is an attributed one. I also have the Narvik and the "Schulterklappen" from the Inhaber. It was the badge of Paul Ehrenfried Lenkeit.

He served on the Georg Thiele. From 07/1944 till the end of the war he was the commander (Kapitänleutnant) of the U-1301. A U boot that didn't see (a lot) of action.

          Best regards

Great start to the new year Stijn!!! Thats one tasty looking Destroyer badge, as you said nice and early, and just the right amount of wear to give it a great "look" full of character!!
Nice comparison pic with the Schwerin wartime version, we all know how good they're badges were, so your early 57er is up against the best, but still compares pretty well!!
            Excellent photo's too!!! -Nigel

Wow, a 57er Narvik or TR ? Early 57er KM Narviks i haven´t seen till yet, only the modern productions
Which rank have the shoulderboards? commander ?
That is an absolutely great group

Thanks a lot Nigel. Indeed a great way to start the new year. I hope it sets the standard for the rest of the year.

@Rüdiger: no the Narvik is a wartime one. The shoulderboards are Kapitänleutnant (two stars).

                Best regards
