Cheers Mathijs, i think the only example of a Deumer 57er i've seen with a different MM,is an EK1 belonging to Daniel, which i think is double marked with both the "3" and the "L/11"!!
But you know 57ers, theres bound to be more surprises!!party-smiley-042.gif -Nigel

Great crosses Nigel! The Deumer is just typically great work by them. I love every piece I've ever seen by them and this cross is no exception.

I think the S&L is hand vaulted and that is probably why the soldered seams are splitting. It's a great looker and has the "been there" appeal.

I'm curious about the timing of the use of the semi-open hinge block. What do you think? Late 60's? Early 70's? Is the core magnetic?

Cheers Mike, you are right about Deumer quality. i've never seen any poor ones!!
I think you are spot on about the vaulting on the S & L too, with careful examination, there are light hammer marks on the backplate, must have been carefully done, and taken ages, as theres no damage to the silvering on the backplate, someone went to a lot of trouble!! -Nigel

          What a condition
I too would say that the S&L has been hand vaulted, a great looker too

          Very good start into 2010

Sorry Mike, i forgot to answer your questionduh.gif The S & L core is magnetic! As for the date of the hingeblock, well, the fully open hingeblock was in use by 1968, so its gotta be before that, i would think around mid 60's, say 63 to 65 -Nigel
