Great pics of a great piece Nigel!

The nice close-ups of the Ehrenblatt confirm my thoughts that it's an early one! Excellent! It's a crisp strike and has all the quality of an early Ehrenblatt!

Add this bit of information - ONLY 37 "Ehrenblattspange der Kriegsmarine" were awarded wartime and you've got something VERY SPECIAL there Nigel! Check here for more info - >CLICK<

Here's a wartime Heeres example also attached to an EKII ribbon. They were worn on an EKII ribbon but Nigel's and this Heeres example were apparently worn with the EKII itself. Note that the Heeres example also the fold at the bottom of the ribon where it has gone through an EKII loop.

                  Hey Nigel,

Here's a thought, you might want to check with the folks in the Bundeswehr section of the forum to see if they can help you identify any of the 37 wartime KM EBS winners that went onto careers in the BW. The list MUST be a short one and it might be pretty easy to identify your man that way.

Honor Clasps Holders in the Bundesmarine

                          Gentlemen,

The only two holders of the Navy Honor Roll Clasp that I know so far that were in the Bundesmarine after WWII were Karl Hetz (German Cross in Gold Holder/Vizeadmiral Bundesmarine) and Otto Nordt (German Cross in Gold and Knight's Cross Holder/Korvettenkapitan). But I'm sure there had to be other holders of the Navy Honor Roll Clasp that served in the Bundesmarine.

                          Sincerely,

                          Edward L. Hsiao

Thanks for the info Edward Very interesting!!!
Theres no way to know for sure that this Ehrenblattspange did serve again in the Bundesmarine unfortunately, he may have done, or this could just have belonged to a wartime vet, who bought replacement medals??
