    Nice little group...and questions

    Hello friends,

i just got this little group and after looking at the EK II, i have questions to it.
What happened to the date? Core is NON magnetic and is that a painted frosting? What production date may it be ?
To the other items i have no questions but please wait till i uploaded all pics....the best item is the last one

That´s all. The EK looks really good in hand and the core has matt paint. I can´t believe that this one could be one of the modern productions. Your opinions are needed and appreciated.....
Forgot to add that this was a bargain, even if the EK is modern

Wow, my friends. I had a very good collecting year

Hi Rudiger, great items you've got there, all very nice!!
I'll say what i think about the EK2!!
I've got a couple of S & L EK2's that have non magnetic core's, i'd date mine to somewhere around late 60's, still good core details and cores painted before assembly. Both of mine have frames that have no silver plating or burnishing to them, yours looks similar, but still has some of the silver finish left on! Mine probably started out with the same silver finish, but have lost it all, yours has some left!!
It looks like the cross has had a second coat of paint around the "1813" date?? we've seen crosses that have had two coats of paint before, but usually all over, not just in one place??
The "3" in "1813" is a little bit higher than the other numbers, just the same as on mine!!
So i think its a nice cross, a bit different, and nice to see!!!
Its certainly not modern production..... -Nigel

I can only answer till tomorrow morning - then we´ll go to a short holiday trip for 4 days. We are visiting Sylt, a little isle at the north sea, near Denmark
So don´t wonder why this german nerd is not online
Wish you all a happy new year

Wanted to reply yesterday but WAF has been down for more than 1 hour

                Many many thanks Nigel
Those are good news that my EK is still a "good" one. The core has really fantastic details and i was amazed that it is non magnetic But i like and love it as it is, that is my missing first EK II and now that i know about it the price for all was really fantastic A wonderful end of my fantastic collecting year with so much great friends here.
                THANKS TO YOU ALL

From now till Sunday i´ll look here from time to time via handy but won´t reply (too slow with handy).

And once more A Great and Happy New Year to all of you

Hi Rudiger, yes thats a still a nice ek2 you've got there!! They might have changed the core to non magnetic, but otherwise the core details are as good as any early EK!!
Theres a BIG difference between yours, and the modern production pieces, the ones with the sandblasted frames, and the cores painted after assembly with that ugly thick gloss paint!!!
A Happy New Year to you too Rudiger!!!! -Nigel

                      Hello

Some very nice, and early items there Rudiger The EK is, I believe, one from the 1970's, probably mid 70's or just marginally after. The strange area around the '1813' date I've seen before, but can't remember where or what the explanation was at present. Still a good quality cross, and that flak badge is just great - an very early

                      Regards
                      David

                            Killer group Rudiger.
Heeres flak (wartime and 57) are my favourite badges. I can't get enough of them.
Yours is really a lovely specimen. Congratulations.

                            Best regards

I´m back from my short trip

Thanks to all for your compliments and opinions, i thought to sell the medal bar and the sports badge, but i´ll hold the group together. Sadly there´s no name or pic of the holder. Maybe a young soldier or a Hitlerjunge, or it was an older man from the Volkssturm...or...or...or...would really like to know more about this person

And yes.....the flak badge is the real reason i bought this group. Very hard to find and i it in my display
