    57 CCC gold question

    Hello

Just doing a bit of homework and came across this CCC Gold.
First of all sorry but these are all the pics I have for the moment.

The bayonet looks like it is polished. The set up looks early (’60). What caught my attention was the half moon mark on the reverse. I’m wondering if this is the result of badge manipulation or is it a die feature? If this is indeed a die mark, there have to be more ccc badges with this mark. What do you guys think?

    Best regards

I think this one might stand a chance of being mid-production ???

I would say it´s a die flaw what is growing more and more the older the die gets. On my silver CCC i think you can see the beginning of it. The golden one you show is really a later production of mine and so the flaw could grow IMO.
I´ve seen a few more CCC´s with a flaw like mine but, to be honest, it´s the first one with such a big flaw shown on this golden CCC.

Thank you for the input, guys. Much appreciated.
Indeed that is the same flaw, Rudiger. So this clasp isn't as early as i thought.

              Hi Stijn,

Here is a silver example I had at one time, that reminds me of the Golden one you show. Other than the moon shaped flaw on the back they are somewhat similar in that the hardware and burnishing. Note that mine had an open hinge block.

I also had a LW Nahkampfspange that had an open hinge block and yet nice burnishing and was discussed HERE as possibly being a "transitional" piece.

I hope this is some help to you.

Stijn, I'd hold out for an earlier piece with better quality finish, if I were you. This one, while it may not be collector-tourist grade, looks cheap.

                      Thank you Mike and George.
Indeed i'm gonna let this one pass. There are far more better pieces to buy.
But it was rather interesting because i learned a thing or two.

                      Best regards
