    feuerwehr ehrenzeichen 2e stufe

I have no idea if it is early or modern.
But I couldn't pass for the price that I had to pay.

Anyone here that knows more about these?
    Good or bad buy?

Hi Luud, i've only seen a first class new form version of this award, that was quite an early one, and yours looks very similar!! I like it, the enamel looks to be good quality, is it a heavy piece?
It has the ball shaped suspension loop, as on wartime pieces, the lettering looks pretty good, they were'nt always perfect on Third Reich produced pieces!!
So i reckon its a nice, quality award and fairly early too!!
See what the other guys reckon -Nigel

Thanks Ngel, so there is still hope
I don't have it in hands yet, so I really can't say too much about it.

I only try to find out what the rebbon is meant for, because it is not the ribbon that I expect on a fire brigade medal.

I agree with Nigel´s statement. The enamel is square in the corners, not round as on late pieces. And IMO the ball shaped suspension loop speaks for itself - a nice early production, i´ve seen pieces with a simple loop ring.
I hope in hands the inscription is really sharp to see, the pics are not the best to see that.

Theres a chance thats its the right ribbon, just lost its color, really bleached out, i think the widths of the stripes match when compared with an original??045a.JPG

Thanks Rudiger, This is something I will look for in the future!

Nigel, that IS the ribbon with darker stripes at the end that I would expect!
I think you could be right because I just checked for ribbons and can''t find a match in the TR range.

I just looked in my book and haven´t found such a ribbon with the white stripe at the end I looked ar TR - GDR and BRD incl.1957er

The BRD Feuerwehr Ehrenzeichen have a golden stripe at the end and i don´t think the golden stripe can bleach out to white

I thought thats what we love about the 57ers!!!!
Luud, you'll know more when you get the medal, if the ribbon has faded, maybe you can see more color on the inside of the ribbon? the use of flash in the photo's doesnt help us!! But i hope you've got a nice early one there, i think its got every chance!!!

I love the mysteries, but I am very happy that it isn't me that is writing a book about all these oddities wich should still make some sence.

I will recieve the medal within a few days and will check the ribbon first.
I will also ask the seller what the story behind the medal is.
Maybe that will give us a lead.
