    Hello

With two exceptions, the case appears identical to the case that S&L use with their current production of new form EK's - although clearly this EK is one of the early ones. The two exceptions are that S&L are now printing their name on the underside outer covering of the case, and are again placing an outline of the EK on the outer top covering. I'd guess then, that this case is an S&L one but is possibly later than the actual cross in it - but I could be wrong.

Nigel, can you tell if the padding under the white cloth in the top section is foam or some sort of wadding? Is the base that the cross sits on cloth, a velvety type material or what? Thanks.

    Regards
    David

hi David, all the materials appear to be the same as used in wartime crosses, silk for the lid liner and hinge cover, and velvet to cover the tray! I think the current S&L cases also have a different shape, with rounded corners!! -Nigel
