    1957 Deumer EK2 marked '3' --> Opinions please

This one in recently. I haven't quite mastered photographing the 57s with their highly polished frames...

A '3' marked Deumer, discussed a bit earlier from a Weitze update. Enjoy!

    Thanks,
    Best regards,
    Streptile

hi Trevor, very nice EK!! fantastic condition, nice burnished frame, and nicely detailed core!! Deumers are usually quality pieces, and this one is no exception! the MM'd Deumer EK2's seem to be more common than unmarked ones, the opposite of S & L's! It looks like the EK collecting bug is spreading congrats on a great piece -Nigel

Great looking Deumer EK, and the price was very good for a marked one.

Very nice Trev! The burnishing is beautiful, the core has nice definition and the mm is a clean strike!

Uh, you can take the price tag off now.

Thanks, everyone, for the positive feedback. This one is really nice. I wonder if Deumer ever made EK2s with the same matte paint they used for some of their 57er EK1s? I happen to love that paint's look. Anyone know?

That isn't a price tag, it's a small tag with a unique code on it, my own personal cataloging system. This one, for example, is marked:

                1957.2.003.XXXX

                Obviously it is:

                Year.Class.MakerCode.

XXXX = a personal collection number (sequential from when I started collecting). In a moment of optimism I've made it 4 digits long but the collection stands in the double digits still. The first EK I ever bought, for example, is labeled:

                1939.2.065.0001

The code is then linked to a database in which I've recorded things like measurements, weight, purchase date + price, etc. This way if I want to find out something about a particular cross (say, weight) I don't have to break out the scale every time.

Obsessive? Maybe. But it helps keep me busy.
                Best regards,
                Streptile

A very stunning EK2! Perhaps the nicest one I've ever seen in a photo. I bet it looks even better in-hand!

Very good idea, Trevor. I've been wanting to make a decent database of my own stuff, but for a different reason. Just in case the burglars get into my fortress , I got something to show the insurance company ...
