    Your opinions guys!!

hi guys, what do you reckon to this EK2? 3 piece, magnetic, MM'd L/58 (Souval) blank core, no dates, no oaks! i've seen this before on Souval pre-57ers, but they've had the distinctive wartime frame, which this does'nt the painted finish on the core is the same as the other pre-57ers i've seen! a kind of grainy look to it! tri-fold ribbon appears to have had a pin mounted at some time....medals 456.jpg

medals 449.jpg so, my question is... did Souval use two types of frame on their pre57 EK's???

just been comparing this frame to some others, and i'm pretty sure the frame is S & L, interestingly the corners have been filed round!!!

                      Hello

An interesting item, in the Austrian tradition. Souval and S&L? I don't see why they would have to, but perhaps S&L supplied Souval with some frames.

                      Nice piece either way.

                      Regards
                      David

hi David, thanks for your comments, there seem to be quite a few EK1's around, using S & L frames and cores, but using Souval hardware, so i think there must have been some trading in parts between the two firms -Nigel

heres a couple of shots of the corners of the frame, each has been filed off, the only reason i can think for doing this, is to make the S & L frame look more like the traditional Souval shape...medals 455.jpg

and finally a couple of shots of the Souval and standard S & L side by side!! this is one of the most interesting EK's i've seen in a while -Nigelmedals 457.jpg
