    An offer of condolence

    Gentlemen,

Please join me in offering prayers for and condolences to one of our finest forum members. Luud's father passed away this morning in the Netherlands. He had a stroke a week ago and then complications following and has now passed into rest.

Speaking from my own experience, this will be a very difficult time for Luud and his family. Please offer prayers for peace and strength. Respectfully offer your condolences through this thread or through e-mail. Understandably, Luud will not be on-line in the upcoming days and weeks, but to receive your thoughts and prayers will, I believe, mean a great deal to him.

Luud, you have been a wonderful friend and mentor to me and I'm so very grateful to you and for you. May this loss serve to help you understand and experience life in a deeper and more meaningful way. The pain does gradually grow more easy to bear. You will get through this. Please do not hesitate to ask for help in ANYTHING at any time. I'm here for you my friend.

Sorry to hear this Luud. Just a few hours ago you told me in an email about your fathers condition who was still alive at that point. Please accept my condolences.

Hello, Luud. Sad to hear about the loss of your father. I know words are sometimes pointless in these cases, but rest assure our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family right now. I think most of us have dealt with the loss of a close family member and from personal experience I know that the pain can largely be eased with the help of other family members and close friends. Sincere and respectfull condolences from a friend on the 1957 forum .... Mathijs .

I tried to think about something and thought about checking what happend with the 57's.

I came across this thread, I don't know if it is appropriate in this section, but it is the section on this forum I liked the best the last 6 months.
I want to thank you from my heart for all for the interest you showed.
My father meant a lot for me. It was not only my father, but also my best friend.

My father is also the reason I started collecting more than 30 years ago when I was around 8 years old.
He had a small war museum with his oldest brother, on the left on the picture, from items they got from an American Driver of the officers that all stayed at my grandparents house after the war.
With his loss, collecting is probably less fun for me. He was always very interested in my new items.
But I will be back, it just needs some time!

The funeral was yesterday, Someone just send me this picture when I said goodbey to him together with my/his family.
(I am the person that hides his face behind my beloved wife)

I want to show this picture of him when I married my wife on Edinborough castlle.
He looks here like he had been his life, a happy man that appriciated his life.

The bagpipes meant a lot for him since he heard the sound the first time we were liberated.
We were supposed to go back to Edinboroug for the military tattoo, he always wanted to go there.
It is the only promise I ever made that I can't fulfill anymore.
That is way we arranged a bagpiper on his funural that played his most beloved song like "Amazing Grace".

He also was a person that didn't want to look back too much, but go on and wanted to be reminded in a positive way.
He is now back with his wife he had to miss for 25 years.

I will miss his stories about the war and remind him as my best friend ever.
Peter, please close this thread because this book is closed for me now.

Beautiful photo at the castle and beautiful memories. I am sure he was a fine man. You and your family are in my prayers.

                          Luud,

Please accept my deepest condolences. We enter this life to abide in a dwelling place for 'X' amount of years. Death is just a 'vehicle' for us to enter into a new dwelling place as we did at birth. We receive a new body, one which will never grow old or suffer earthly afflictions. If we could look past the curtain of time we would see your father in a young body reunited with his young bride. He would be happy to know that we understand this. I will keep you and your family in my prayers, Luud. Lord bless you.
