    1957 Spangen for review

    Phew!

For a moment I thought I had run out of 57er items to post here for opinions, but then I remembered these little babies.

I got these in 1999 or so (along with all the rest of my "first-run" 57 collection, most of which I am now trying to replace).

I don't know what the criteria are for judging the period of manufacture for these Spangen.

    Your opinions are very welcome.

    Thanks,

    Trevor

Ha ha, sound familiar, I had more than I expected after checking everything.

I am not sure if the clasps are early or late, I am not into 57 crosses and thier spangen.
But they quality look descent to me.

      Hi Trev,

Both look like good strikes with carfeul paint jobs. That's good. It's difficult to tell from the pics, but neither piece looks burnished. The earliest would likely have the date numbers burnished. Are yours burnished?

Here are some shots of my early 2nd class with burnishing for comparison...

Thanks guys. I don't think mine are burnished, but I'm not sure I'd be able to tell without another one to compare to in-hand. I'll try to post better photos and see...

              Hello

Nice bars gents Trevor, although the earlier ones are encountered with the burnished edges (as seen in Mikes bars) they are also found without the burnishing. I like yours (and Mikes ) and would say that they are good bars, and judging by the rear set up probably from the mid/late 1960's.

              Regards
              David

By the way, is there a maker known (or suspected) for these?
                Best regards,
