Early Ek2(?) dissected

I thought I got out of 57 awards until I saw this early beauty on ebay

Interesting core, it looks like brass. Comments welcome

I thought it was a RK initially but the break mark on the 12 o'clock now probably indicates a ek2.

Looks like it is an EK2 to me.
What are the dimension? And is the core magnetic?

hi, looks like S & L EK2, 1970's i'd guess, i'm guessing the core is non-magnetic -Nigel

I will know when I get it but it looks brass. That lovebird picture is my lovebird grabbing hold of my DKIG case (repro thank the lord!) as I was trying to photograph it!

George, if they are reproducing cores like this then I'm getting outa the hobby ! The ones I've seen (70s) have a much "thinner" oak leaves with less definition and the modern day ones are just simply dire. Never seen modern repros produce this level of detail on the core.

Interesting piece. The definition of the core strike sure looks early. A non-magnetic core says late produced. It's the core that makes this one interesting to me. I must admit I've never seen a 57 New Form EK with a brass core. Anyone else seen one?

Perhaps it's not actually brass. It may be the alloy used on the late produced non-magnetic pieces. If it is late produced, it's a heck of a nice strike.

Please let us know when it arrives and you've done some more analysis.
