    Black Wound Badges - Comparison

    Hello Gentlemen,

Pictured here are 2 Black wound badges. What are the differences between the two? Can they be dated? Which is your favorite, A or B?

    Many thanks,
    Vince

    BADGE A

    BADGE B

B has much earlier hardware than A.

Hello Vince, I would definately go for badge B. Like Mike said, the hardware is much earlier.

hi Vince, as the guys have already said, badge "B" is earlier and more desirable than badge "A"!! the first badge is of more modern production, probably 80's onwards, the 2nd badge with the rounded needle pin is much earlier, 60's i would think. -Nigel

          Thanks Guys!

          Thanks Guys,

I have so many new 57er items inbound I am getting dizzy. It is so very important to concentrate on the basics - Hardware, Hardeware, & of course Hardware!

          My best,
          Vince

Now I know I didn't find anything. I don''t get dizzy at all with my purchases lately
But I did find 2 early St&L balloon observers.

Yes, hardware is very important. Just go for the early quality.
Badge B is a keeper for sure.

Sounds like an artillery barrage: "Sir, we got loads of inbound 57er! INCOMING!!!!!!!!!"

I agree with what the guys said, and would add that I think badge A seems to have a somewhat lightly sandblasted appearance. Badge B is earlier, and seems to have a nicer finish.

Go with "B", and post the others as they come in!
