    Question para 57

    Hello

Saw this strange para badge. The wreath is darker of colour as one should expect. The hardware puzzles me. It looks to be a modern catch.
Sorry for the small pics they all i have. The mini looks late production to me.
    What do you guys think?

    Best regards

      Hi Stijn,

      I hope you are well!

I don't like the Para badge. The pin, catch and hinge are not like any authorized New Form award I've seen. The soft details, which are very hard to discern from the super tiny photos don't look good. It is likely a cast repro with a real mini thrown in, in an attempt to authenticate the badge.

Hopefully, more will chime in on these pieces.

      Best,

hi all! as Mike knows, my knowledge of para badges is less than zero but i've seen that exact same hardware on a fake Third Reich Auxiliary Cruiser badge, it was a soft casting, and bent easily under the slightest pressure, wonder if this is the same? -Nigel

I've seen a similar setup on modern badges as well. From DDR items till ... well ... today. I would not touch it.
