    LW numbered clasp pendant

I just took a look at my Fighter clasp with pendant and noticed something interesting I will show you.

First I sow you the clasp I am talking about with the same clasp without the pendant.

I searched the Forum, but couldn't find another pendant, so the only comparisson I can make is with wartime pendants.

The pendant is attached by rings that soldered on the clasp.
Notice the way they soldered pins on the other 2 wartime clasps.
I threw in a sink and buntmetal clasp.

Here you can see that the clasp has been finished after the rings had been soldered.
And notice the marks of a tang on the clasp in the earlier pictures.

The pendant is much thinner, but the quality is not so bad at all.

The only other pendants I ever saw (for sale) were like these with just a simple sticker.
Are there more pendants out here on the Forum?

On wartimers it is somethimes hard to see the difference between Gold an Bronze.
I show you the coulors of these S&L's that really could not be mistaken.

Great thread at detailing the differences between wartime pendants and 57's!

One very obvious observation between the wartimers and the 57 pieces, is the solder job. The wartimers have a much stronger connection to hold the pendant in place during harsh, combat conditions. The 57 piece has a weaker solder point. Which I'm sure was also a cost savings measure. But a strong solder joint is not needed for parade or reunion wear!

The quality of your 57 pendants is quite good Luud. Very nice pieces. I think the pendant pieces are somewhat rare.

To bad to see pieces with a sticker on them. "Collectors market" junky-junk!

                        Beautiful!

                        Hi Luud,

Thank you for posting these clasps. It is especially interesting to see the comparison between the 57 and WW2 clasps.

                        Just beautiful! Thanks again,
                        Vince

Or they did it is for economical reasons.
Now they only needed to make one die in stead of making more dies!

Can you gues how many pendants they had to make only for this Bad Boy?
