    57er Mini Medal collection

    Hello again,

I have a little source on active duty with the German Fallschirmjager who has been helping me with these mini medals. Sorry to say but my camera just does not capture all the sharp details on these minis. They are crisp and very clean!
    Enjoy,
    Vince

I'm not much into these, so I don't know much about them, but you've sure got a thorough selection going Vince.

That's an impressive collection. I especially like the naval Ehrenblattspange!

I do like the mini medals!
But I have a (maybe very stupid) question regarding the destruction badges.

Why are there mini medals of these airplane and tank destruction badges?
The could wear the normal destruction badge, so why is it in medal form?

The type Vince is displaying in this thread to my knowledge are for civilian wear. Mini medal bars were for those who served in the Bundeswehr while these could be worn by those who chose not to serve after WWII to reunions, etc.

These could be placed on a band and worn above the left breast pocket like a medal bar, with the mini's hanging. I'll see if I can find a picture.

If I am wrong in this, please correct me.

                  Hi Luud,

There is no stupid question. The mini medals in some part were worn with civilian attire as in most armies, the soldiers would wear them while dressed in civilian suits at reunion type functions. Thus there would not be an option to wear a destruction badge, cuff-title, etc.

                  My best,
                  Vince

Very hard to understand with all the exceptions for some people.
