My Ribbon Bar display project (on-going)...

    Hello Guys,

As a few of you already know, I have decided to build a nice display built around a 10-place 57er ribbon bar I recently bought. I will use this one thread to display my progress on the project. My goal is to display all of the WWII awards, as well as the 1957-version awards, that go with this ribbon bar (with the exception of the WWII Heer Ehrenblattspange - that's just too far out of my price range right now).

So far, I have the following awards:

    EK1 and EK2, 1939 and 1957
    KVK2w/S, 1939 and 1957
    Verwundetenabzeichen in Gold, 1957
    Ostmedaille, 1939
    Ehrenblattspange, 1957
    Stürmabzeichen, 1957 [ADDED 04/23/2009]
    Stürmabzeichen, 1939 [ADDED 05/09/2009]

Below are photos of what I have so far, in the display case. I think I'll eventually need a larger display case! I will post updates as I update the display.

My Ribbon Bar display project (on-going)...

EK2 1939 is an unmarked Wächtler & Lange
EK1 1939 is an unmarked Klein & Quenzer
EK1 1957 is an unmarked early Wilhelm Deumer
EK2 1957 is an unmarked early Steinhauer & Lück

I do not yet know who made the early GWB 1957.

Both KVK w/ swords are unmarked.

The Ostmedaille is unmarked, but came in a packet made by B.H. Mayer (26)

              John,

Excellent concept for a display my friend! I love what your doing here, building a collection around the medal bar. It's unique and displays very nicely.

I think the vet would be proud of what your building.

I would use a grey cotton cloth as background.

I like Peter's idea John. Wehrmacht gray would add to your theme and the appearance of the awards. It would make the "POP."

The display is coming along nicely John! Keep it going!

                        Guys,

I've been using the inert Reicher mount-style backing because it's inert. Is there some feldgrau colored material I can use that will not harm the crosses and badges? Thanks.

Cotton cloth from a curtain/sewing shop will do.
