I've asked better pix from hinge & catch, but based on these pix, could it be early production ??? Looks like decent quality ...

IMHO the Para Badge is not an early Version, looks like "middle" production. Have a look at the open hinge. But the quality is very good. I would put this one into my collection because of the decent quality. Maybe the hinge and catch could be removed?
I can´t say anything about the EK clasp.

Hi Rüdiger, you were spot-on ! Pix came back with open hinge & late catch. But like you say, still decent quality.
I've put in an offer and see how it turns out ... anyone else has ideas on the EK clasp ???

Edit ... got it ( and for good price, as well ) !!!

The pronged versions are 2nd class and the needle versions 1st class.

As far as dating manufacture, strike quality, paint quality and burnishing are the tell tale signs. Early having clean, crisp strikes, with paint inside the beading and highly burnished high points. Later having the opposite.
