    High priced DKiG on eBay

    Hey all,

Am I correct in stating that the position of the rivets, in and of itself, is a dead-give-away that this piece is a modern, unauthorized copy? This is not to mention the other difficiencies.

        Hi Mike,

as asserted from the ebay member Jens, the addition:

"A User from the USA told me via email, that this cross is to his opinion a repro, for the "Nieten" on the reverse side are not in the correct position."

        is absolute nonsense (Unsinn).

It could be, but I don't know it, that this is important for original Third Reich DKiG, but it is not important for 1957 versions.

        Regards
        Uwe

Looks like it has a red painted ring under the wreath, and that points to a "copy". I wouldn't want one that didn't have red enamel under the wreath.

            Hello

It's not one that I'd want for my collection. The ones to go for have the red enamelled ring under ther wreath, although the later made S&L pieces do use a painted red ring. That said, this one looks awful. Save your money and find a decent one.

            Regards
            David

It is manufactured by those who usually manufactures fakes of Third Reich decorations. It is modern piece of very poor quality and vintage 1957 decorations do not look like this at all.

Thanks guys. I certainly had no intention of bidding on this "fine example." It's identical to the copy I have as filler in my current collection.

I got into a discussion with the seller as to authenticity and to his credit he ammended his listing to share the doubt and lo and behold bidding still ended and 212 euros! Unbelievable! I was the "User from the USA" who pointed out that the rivets were in the wrong position and such.

I guess I'm trying in my own small way to crusade a bit against the proliferation of copies and garbage sellers out there. Obviously, to no avail. I even gave the seller a link to this forum as he is a staunch believer that 57er copies do not exist.

Profiteers will always exist, clearly. But, this premise that 57er copies do not exist, bugs me.

Copy? I do not see a copy!

I see a 1957 versions, not the best and not very early made, but not a copy.
