Wow, thanks guys. It's nice to "talk" to people who appreciate the hobby/passion/addiction as David so aptly put it. It is indeed that.

Any thoughts as to the makers of any of my pieces?

Would you gents more knowledgable than I help date my RK? I would appreciate it! I can post better pics of the RK and show pics of the case if that would help.

Actually, any input on manufacture dates for all of my pieces would be greatly appreciated!

            Mike

Mike, the beading is very soft on that RK, and the seam of the frames looks poorly done so I'd wager this is a later piece. Is it magnetic? I'd guess later 70's to some time in the 80's for its vintage.

Try searching through our 57 section for other examples to compare it to!

                Hi George,

                Thank you for the input.

The core is magnetic for sure. The pictures don't do the beading justice, although it isn't terribly crisp. I'll try to get a better pic or two posted. I had hoped it was at least a 70's model. The definition on the core is quite good.

I will look at some other posted examples as you suggest.

                Thanks again,
                Mike

                  Good stuff!

I see you have some versions of the Aircraft Destruction Badge, I wish I could find some info on them that they were actually awarded before the end of the war and so on.

                    Rk

I'm no expert on these things, but the RK looks like a Morigi to me. The thin beading and the dates. Maybe it is just the photos. Please, another photo of the RK. Thanks.

I will post more pics although I don't think it's possible that it's a Morigi. I've had the cross for six years and bought it from a relative who bought the cross while stationed in Germany in the early 90's.

Well, I just spent over an hour trying to get better pics and my camera just won't do any better. I'll accept judgements on the award based on posted pics. The beading is thinner/softer than I had previously realized.

The RK is indeed a Nicholas Morigi. Not vintage from any of the original wartime companys.

The knowledgable folks on this forum have taught me a great deal already. While I hate to hear that the cross is not authentic, I'd much rather know the truth. I genuinely appreciate ekhunter and Peter giving me the facts.

if it didnt cost much, theres no harm done, keep it as a space filler till you get an original! you can pick up the later made rks for not too much, or you could wait (and save up) for a nice early piece!!

                                Morigi

I only recognized it because I have one myself, so I've been there, done that many years ago myself, now it's (my Morigi) is on my key ring for my truck. Interesting conversation peice when people see it. Good ones are out there, you just have to be patient. My only two cents will be to try to get an early one, the quality is so much better than the late tourista models. Good luck!
