          Hello

From what I can see in the photos it looks like a very nice, and early, piece.

          Regards
          David

Looks like a killer early APB to me. With that hardware and those rivets, I'm thinking this is not an S&L, but perhaps Deumer?

Thanks for the comments. When I came accross this badge, I almost passed out. When I was able to secure it for my collection I ran around in circles like a kid.

I just came accross this 57er forum. It's awesome! I didn't know it existed until two days ago. I joined immediately and have learned a great deal already. I'll be posting more pics from my collection in the upcoming days.

Are there others out there with 57er Heer Para Badges??? Let's see those pics! The only other one I've enountered having the Army style eagle is on Jamie Cross's website and it has a gold eagle and dark Luftwaffe wreath.

                  Mike

That is a very nice Deumer. Take good care of it. Deumer pieces are rare. Thanks for showing it.

Hi Mike, I just found this posting. Killer badge. I know almost nothing about '57 awards but do have a very similar APB badge in my collection of post-war German para stuff. I would say that my badge is exactly the same (pin, details etc) except that the colours are reversed. The eagle is gilt and the wreath is silver. Does this mean my badge is bad?

I look fwrd to yur response,

                      Greg

                        Hi Greg,

                        Thanks for the comments.
I would absolutely LOVE to see as many photos of your badge as you care to share!!! I'm sure others would too! Bring 'em on!

The reverse color scheme means it is the Luftwaffe issue. The color scheme on mine is for the Para's who served in the Army. The German Paratroop forces were initially under the control of the Army and later control was given to the Luftwaffe and Goring/General Kurt Student. Those early paratroops received a badge with the eagle in the style you see on my badge and and the Heer eagle positioned at the top. The badge had oak leaves on both sides of the wreath, while the Luft version had oak leaves on the right hand side and laurel on the left and no Heer eagle at the top. The eagle used on the luft badges was also a different style all together. Actually, there were several types of eagles used on the Luft badges by the various makers.

Click here for in depth info on the Army version - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_...aratrooper.htm

And here for info on the Luft version - http://dev.wehrmacht-awards.com/war_...para_badge.htm

Again, please post some pics of your badge ASAP, especially if the is identical to the one on my badge.

                        Best regards,

I've discovered a setting on my camera that I hadn't noticed before and I think the pics come out much better, so I took a few more shots a few of pieces to help document them well on our forum.

Hope no one minds me bumping a few threads for this reason.
